Black tile can seem a little bit harsh. In fact, if you already have this in your kitchen or bathroom you might think that it needs to be replaced totally. It can be very masculine. Instead, you can just find different ways to really soften the look. You can also just change it up with a lot of different options to really create a space that is extremely welcoming even if it does use dramatic kinds of colors on a black dining chair.
If you want a natural kind of feeling then you should probably go with a black slate tile. This brings in a lot of different grays, as well as oranges. This can give you a lot more variation. Really the size and shape of slate that you choose to go with is what is going to determine the rest of the design of your room. If you wanted more of a rustic kind of feeling then just go with traditional squares with a wide variation of color. For more of a modern and contemporary kind of look then go for a more unusual large rectangle. You can keep this all in deep grays or blacks for a pretty dramatic kind of effect. Use this in different rooms like with black queen bedding or a black headboard. It also works with a black sectional.
You also really want to pay attention to the grout. This is especially true if you're just going with a basic black ceramic tile. Of course, if you go with a bright white than this is really going to pop and have a high contrast which is perfect if you like a black and white decor look. If you have black galaxy tile this is a form of granite. It's really going to add a little bit of sparkle into your room. You can really just continue this theme throughout your space. If you're working in the kitchen then bring in a lot of different stainless steel appliances as well as a backsplash or possibly even a countertop. This is going to keep the room neutral but at the same time, it does ensures that you get a very personal touch to your space so that it just doesn't feel too dark and heavy as well as depressing. Metallic accents are a great ways to just break things up.
If you want more of a subtle look then just try black accent tiles. For instance a mosaic usually uses a lot of whites as well as bright colors. You can also go with a pattern tile and just put this in with your other white and black pieces. This can mean that you can use a lot of very basic and cheap ceramic tiles. Then you can just bring in the accent pieces to really make an impact.
