White accents really do have a place in home decor even if you have a white farmhouse or black and white room decor. Often times when you choose your accent color you want to go with something a little bit bolder. However, if you've already chosen a daring wall color or dramatic furniture choices then it can really be to your advantage to just go with more neutral accents colors to really tone down your room. This can also be a way that you can tie different appliances or tile colors together in a kitchen but just give everything a defined theme or a high-end kind of style.
You can really herald back to vintage hobbies or just shop for antique white home accents or white wall decor. You can do this with monograms. Traditionally this would be a white pillow case with a black letter or other color of embroidery thread on it. For a more modern display try these items on a black bookcase. However, you can really get an entirely new look just by going with something like a Robin's egg blue pillowcase and then adding in white embroidery. If you wanted a very subtle touch then you could just go with white on white or cream on white. This is going to really make this very traditional style all your own.
White home accessories can really freshen things up especially if you have darker furniture like a black storage ottoman, black crystal chandeliers, or black chandeliers. Often times you don't want to add a dramatic color into a smaller space or you want to lighten up a black bookcase. You can do this with fluffy white towels. Bath towels have come a long ways in the past few years and they have a very designer kind of touch to them. It used to be that they all looked the same. However, now there are sculpted ones in all different kinds of plush designs. This could add a feminine or shabby chic look with scroll work. Of course these pieces have also really gone up in price. You can head to the outlet malls. You can also just shop around for white sales. Just adding in a few hand towels and placing the rest of your old towels in a basket is really going to change up your entire room and space in a very positive kind of manner.

There are all different kinds of white decorating ideas. For instance you could just try going with more of a crystal effect. Really, floral centerpieces and decorative accessories have gone out of vogue. Instead, you can just make this a lot more modern by going with more of a vintage effect. This will also incorporate a lot of twine balls or sculptural pieces. It is going to be a little bit more expensive than traditional floral arrangements, but it can really be worth it in the long run.
Another really fun way to bring this into your room is with bird cages. You of course don't have to have a pet. These are more than utilitarian. This can also be something that you use at your wedding as a cardholder and then later you can incorporate it into your interior design. This can be very dramatic and you can group a selection of smaller pieces together for a very bold effect. This can also be the theme for your entire room. Just making it a bright color is going to give it a much more contemporary look so the focus is going to be on the lines of the piece.
If you have a high end kitchen and you love to cook then you really need to figure out how you're going to get all of the function in your space, but it's not from your overall design style. For instance you could just try an upscale herb garden. Just replace pots with more of an urn style. You can also just paint terra-cotta pots a bright white and then stencil a monogram on the front for a traditional look that has character. This is also a great way to get your initials in the room if you don't do a lot of embroidery and just want an easy project.
The really great thing with white wall decor is that you can incorporate your furniture as well. You can hang a lot of different mirrors on the wall and then pair it with a vintage dressing table. If you want more storage space then try skirting the table. Then you can put items in it. This gives you a chance to add in a coordinating fabric and more of a softer look. You can also just paint it if you want to just focus on the lines of the piece. This is a great way to add in a spot to do your makeup in the morning. Incorporate the vintage look into the rest of your room with damask black wallpaper or black and white wallpaper.
Really focus in on the lines of the pieces when you go with white home decor and accents. People aren't even going to notice the color but they will notice the item itself which can really work to your advantage.
