Black and white used to be the "it" colors for decorating. However, now it just seems to be shades of gray which honestly I prefer a lot more. I still think it has a place in classic kitchens and it's becoming more popular on patios too. The new neutrals are softer and more toned down.
Exterior Home Projects
I usually gravitate more towards interior design rather than exterior design just because I am an apartment dweller. However, I think that the most dramatic changes usually take place on the exterior of homes. You also want to find products with extensive guarantees because it's much more serious than just picking out a paint color. Some of these improvements will be in your yard for decades.
My one rule of thumb is to choose quality materials in neutral colors. I'd much rather see paving stone instead of concrete slabs. It just looks a lot more like natural stone and the colors blend into the garden more. Even if you choose a gray patio pavers most mixes also have neutral tans and browns to match all of the wood tones outside.
It's a project that I feel so passionate about that I was looking around at the System Pavers site. They even have a special software program. You can try out different stone mixes to compliment your exterior instead of just hoping for the best. You can also add in a fire pit. What really makes this service different is you don't have to worry about getting a picture of your house that's good enough to use in the program. So if you're tackling big home improvement projects this year make sure that you have a good idea of how the finished project is going to turn out.

It’s Ok to Shop There
It's no secret that IKEA isn't my favorite place. I think it has to do with the mass market furniture and the contemporary style. I love unique antiques, craftsmanship and distressed finishes or natural wood tones. I don't like to assemble furniture.
The one time I would shop at IKEA is probably for lighting. They seem to have really reasonably priced chandeliers and fixtures. Most of them are too modern for my taste but once in awhile there's an iron piece that I really do love. Are there only certain departments that make home improvement stores worth it to you?

Hoarders
There are a lot of different shows about hoarders on right now. I had no idea that it was such a big problem until I saw these shows on week after week. It's overwhelming to think about cleaning up one of those houses even if you have an entire TV crew working with you.
If you're in the same situation without a TV crew then you still need outside help. Look for someone locally if you need Shenandoah Junk removal. You would definitely need a company that was ok with all different parts of the removal process. They'd need to deal with old appliances, mattresses, carpet, and have something that could possibly even work in place of a dumpster.
You also want to consider the environmental impact too. A lot of these people hold onto their "junk" because they think that it's worth something. Maybe some of their kids will want it someday. Most of them plan on having a garage sale at some point. However, it's usually just too big of a task to organize and the piles in the house just keep growing. I'd want a company that would both recycle and donate any items that still have a use especially when dealing with junk removal on that scale. Those hoarding show definitely always has me motivated to clean out my closets.

How to Pick a White Rocking Chair
A white rocking chair is a staple in nursery decor. It can be sophisticated enough to use in other areas of your home or even outside. You’ll want to change the style depending on the rest of your room so instead of being a staple piece it really does add a lot to your design.
One thing that you can consider is going with a modern white rocking chair. This focuses on simplicity of design. Usually the rocker and arms will just be one solid sculptural piece. Plus it also really gives you a chance to get a lot of comfort in your space and be gender neutral.
The other really great thing that you can do to change up a basic chair is going to be rocking chair pillows. This doesn’t have to be traditional cushions. Instead it could just be a small lumbar pillow. You could even go with a beach inspired look. You could even use this in a living room in the place of a traditional more formal accent chair. Then look for fun nautical inspired fabric in anchors or shells. Usually this would be cheesy. However, since it’s using such a modern color palette and it’s so small then you can really afford to go with a statement piece.
