Would You Move?

I love my state but I'm a little bit jealous of the architecture and thought that goes into homes in different states. I was looking through a Boca Raton Architects site and it practically made me want to move. Frank & Associates Architect Inc. has been in business for 16 years. A lot of the designs go with the flow. This relates to both the space planning and also the scenery around it. I found that many of the projects highlight nature and plants.

Everything was so elegant and well thought out unlike the rustic or cookie cutter homes that we have in Utah that just aren't my style at all. How dedicated are you to your design style? Would you move to have a home or scenery that you really loved?

It’s Easy Being Green

I always know that I need to go green and getting solar panels seems to be the best way to do it. However, whenever the subject comes up my brain just seems to shut off a little bit. I know that it may be the right thing to do; but I just don't know how to go about it.

When I was reading through a site named "solar is made easy" it all became a lot clearer. First off, it's a brilliant name for a website because it instantly clears up my way of thinking that going green has to be difficult. There were lots of articles to read through to learn more. I had some very vague notions that the site instantly cleared up. I've always thought about solar as being expensive. The site let me know how long it would take for the panels to basically pay for themselves. It also informed me of some UK tariff schemes.

I had no idea that the installer will actually tell you how may solar panels that you need. The site makes the process even easier because you can get quotes right on the site just by answering a few quick questions. Then you can get quotes from different installers. I guess there is just one more reason to go green now. It's finally easy.

Modern Black Room Decor

I've found that black and white decor has changed a little bit so it's less harsh. it might use black furniture but not a modern style. It might have Windsor style chairs or hutch armoires. This is in direct contrast to the white furniture and black walls that were popular a few years ago. Now it has more of a farmhouse or country look so that it tones down both the modern and country styles.

One of My Favorite Black and White Rooms

One of my favorite black and white rooms ever belongs to the Evil Queen on the show Once Upon a Time. It has birch print wallpaper, black columns, and it looks like a marble floor. There isn't any color in the space which at first leads to that "evil" feeling. However, it's so dramatic with the color palette and so neutral that everyone in that room pops. It makes someone wearing red lipstick really mesmerizing. If I would've been decorating it I would've gone with a lot of heavy stone or made it feel like a castle and that's why I'm not a set designer. The modern feeling and color palette feels a little bit dangerous and shows that the Mayor knows who she is at least design wise. Even though the ropm is quite intricate it serves as a backdrop. Do you like the Evil Queen's house?

Black and White Christmas Decor

I know that this was popular a few years ago but I just couldn't get too into the idea. There was lots of modern styles as well as fake white trees. I'd much rather see a flocked version. You still get the color but it's a little bit more natural. I also think it would be awesome to take the typical ceramic Christmas village and spray paint it all one color; either white or black. it's a lot easier then trying to get all of those details with handpainting. Trust me, it's a family tradition and I would love to just be able to paint everything one color it would save so much time too. You'd just need larger scale pieces but you may be able to find some options at thrift stores that you can do a makeover on; just make sure your painted finish can handle the heat of Christmas lights. It would be a contemporary version of a Christmas village.
