Keys to All White Rooms

White rooms seem to be quite popular again. However, I was so excited to see some new additions. There seems to be a lot of additions of lighting. This still reads as "white" as long as you get the right kind of bulb. This includes beautiful twinkle light canopies and backdrops. I also love the look of planking that's painted white. It isn't just for nautical room. I love it on ceilings or floors.

Design Trends: Black Wallpaper

Black wallpaper is still fashionable but we're seeing more of a monochromatic look then we have in the last few years. Sure, if you put up black and white birch wallpaper, damask designs, or a toile you won't have to rip it down yet. However, you may want to consider some of these trends as well for a new room.

Damask designs are done in a tone on tone color palette as are florals. This limits your choice of accent colors so you may want to pair it with board and batten molding to add in an additional tone and lighten up the tone. My favorite is the latticework print. The color palette takes it from chic and cottage to cool and modern.

Modern Black Room Decor

I've found that black and white decor has changed a little bit so it's less harsh. it might use black furniture but not a modern style. It might have Windsor style chairs or hutch armoires. This is in direct contrast to the white furniture and black walls that were popular a few years ago. Now it has more of a farmhouse or country look so that it tones down both the modern and country styles.

When Not to Do It Yourself

I do have a green thumb and I can grow plants. I would love to live in an area where gardening on a much bigger scale is possible but I only have room for just a few containers on a balcony. I use these for vegetables. Even when people have yards here they usually don't have flowers because it's a desert.

Sending flowers is actually cheaper than spending the time and money on watering where I live in most cases. Plus, since I'm horrible at arranging them I'd much rather have Serenataflowers.com do it for me. I can get blossoms I'd never be able to get in my area like white orchids. I love the look of lavender roses but it just isn't practical for my area.

How to Use Black Lacquer Furniture in Your Room

Traditionally black lacquer furniture is something more like Oriental black lacquer furniture. It can also be black antique furniture or an integral part of your black dining furniture. However, this can also be quite modern in style and it can even have a place in traditional kind of designs. This is the perfect way to really incorporate heirloom pieces, or things you find in the antique store, or just pieces that you pick up on trips. This is a way to really get a unique style that still blends together with all of your other furniture and accessories. It also adds more of a sense of history to a black living room.

You can just bring this in quite inexpensively and easily. For instance you could try black lacquer bedroom furniture but if you can't afford it then just try a modern style jewelry chest. This can be a lot less expensive than a dresser. At the same time it does give you the option to incorporate a lot of handpainting into your room. It's also a great way to get organized. It's even a way to add a theme to your closet. Right now decorating closets has become very popular just because the walk in closet is the dream of many people. When they finally get it they really want to act upon this and make the most of it just by making it into almost a separate room with its own décor. This is great because you can just close the door so it can handle a lot of color as well as dramatic themes.

This is the perfect way to really incorporate heirloom pieces, and things you find at the antique store, or just pieces that you pick up on trips. This is a way to really get a unique style that still blends together with all of your other furniture and accessories.

This also works well with more of a simple Asian kind of style. For this kind look you want to get coordinating furniture. Right now a lot of this furniture will just have simple metal medallions on it. This includes oversized knobs. This can be a lot less expensive and simpler than handpainting. You can really mix this in with plain black pieces. In fact you might just want to have one piece that you really love of this kind of design style. It's going to work well in a smaller space. At the same time, it does give you the advantage to being very budget friendly. You can just pair it with black bedroom furniture that has similar lines.

You'll also really want to add more modern kinds of touches. A great way to do this is with oversized vases by then bringing in either cherry blossoms or willows. This adds a more feminine kind of touch to the room. You could also accent it with different feng shui items such as fountains. You can keep it simple with a modern slate kind of design that brings in natural stone quite inexpensively.

You can also just take the lines of this furniture and then move onto other items in your room. This may have a granite or stone kind of pattern to it. You could just mimic this throughout your space by using rice paper as your wall art. You could also just put up different boxes on your walls for a very dramatic kind of statement that can incorporate the same color.
