White armoires really solve design dilemmas. An armoire is one of the biggest pieces of furniture that you can buy so make it more feminine in a white shabby chic room. However, just changing up the color palette is really going to make it appropriate for small spaces.
This is also a great way to go if you want more of a cottage look in your room or if you're working with a theme or you just want a different take on a white coffee table. It can also blend in with the other architectural details such as fireplace mantels and crown molding. Usually these things are all white so it's going to coordinate beautifully and still give you a lot of extra storage. You can also use this in a room that doesn't have a closet or you may just need a space for a home office that you can hide away out of sight.
One really fun design is that of a French painting even if it's just on a white coffee table. In this kind of theme, it would have a cream or distressed finish so that it looks older. You want to stay away from a bright white. Look for paintings on the paneled doors or you can just do this yourself. You could have a lot of fun by trying to mimic topiaries or fleur de lis. You just need to sit down and figure out what French means to you. You could even try decoupaging pictures of the Eiffel tower for a more fun theme with postcards.
If you are short on space depending on what you have inside them then you can try to go with more of a glass door. You could always try frosting this if you need hidden storage space. This can give a lighter and more airier appearance to it and then it's going to look more like a china cabinet. In fact you could really use a china cabinet instead. Just giving it a coat of white paint is going to really freshen things up. It seems that lately this has kind of gone out of vogue a little bit just because they used to be so popular a few decades ago but now people are moving away from the formal dining room. Let’s really make this work to your advantage just by hitting different thrift stores and garage sales to really come up with a large piece that you can repurpose. Give it a more modern appearance by putting it next to a white couch.

If you go with a white TV armoire then buy one and give it more of a casual look especially if it's in a family room. An easy way to do this is with the country kind of design style. This allows architectural details on the furniture for more of a shabby chic kind of space. You will want to make sure that your armoire really compliments this. You don't want it to be too formal. In this case, you could have shuttered designs in the doors. This could be a theme throughout your room. You can find a lot of picture frames with these kind of shutter designs in them or a window decoration. Another option for window treatments in this kind of design style is to just put a faux window treatment out of oversized shutters on each side of the window and then using different blinds or Roman shades for privacy and light filtration. You can also put a cornice box on top. Just use paint to really brighten the effect. You may want to have shimmering accents; you can do this by applying mirrors to the front. Another option for a smaller project would be to go with mosaic tile.
You might want to try a white wardrobe armoire in your kids room. Since this is such a large piece of furniture it can really dominate a small space. You can really embrace this just by changing things up a little bit. Try an accent wall instead of going with all the walls. This way your teenager can get his or her favorite black or hot pink paint color. Then leave the rest of the walls white and place the white armoire on one of these spaces so that it really blends in.
