The Best Black and White Decor

Some of my favorite options for black and white decor is just on artwork. When I've had apartments I've learned to have to decorate with all of my roommates posters. They just look so much better even if they are in black and white since the subject matter never is related. Instead of scattering them throughout your entire apartment I just like them all on one wall; even floor to ceiling.

When Not to Do It Yourself

I do have a green thumb and I can grow plants. I would love to live in an area where gardening on a much bigger scale is possible but I only have room for just a few containers on a balcony. I use these for vegetables. Even when people have yards here they usually don't have flowers because it's a desert.

Sending flowers is actually cheaper than spending the time and money on watering where I live in most cases. Plus, since I'm horrible at arranging them I'd much rather have Serenataflowers.com do it for me. I can get blossoms I'd never be able to get in my area like white orchids. I love the look of lavender roses but it just isn't practical for my area.

Sister Wives Fashion Tips

In Utah it's nice that a lot of people focus on dressing modestly. However, it also leaves me wondering at times if something is popular only in this state. One of these things has to do with a long sleeve t-shirt in winter with either a tank top or a low cut top on top of that. The TLC show Sister Wives showcases this look all the time. Do people in other areas of the country dress like this too?

One of My Favorite Black and White Rooms

One of my favorite black and white rooms ever belongs to the Evil Queen on the show Once Upon a Time. It has birch print wallpaper, black columns, and it looks like a marble floor. There isn't any color in the space which at first leads to that "evil" feeling. However, it's so dramatic with the color palette and so neutral that everyone in that room pops. It makes someone wearing red lipstick really mesmerizing. If I would've been decorating it I would've gone with a lot of heavy stone or made it feel like a castle and that's why I'm not a set designer. The modern feeling and color palette feels a little bit dangerous and shows that the Mayor knows who she is at least design wise. Even though the ropm is quite intricate it serves as a backdrop. Do you like the Evil Queen's house?

Period Living

I am not a huge fan of theme decorating. Instead, I love it when interior design plays around with the existing architecture or antique furniture that you already have. This is also a pretty cost effective way to decorate. This is why I was thrilled to come across Period Living magazine. It's a Britain based magazine and site that stays true to period decor. There's also information about holiday homes. There's even an interesting article about how to make money from your second home.

There's a special section devoted just to readers' homes. You can sort this section by a few of the different rooms that are available. Since I'm from the United States I can't even imagine what goes along with restoring a 17th century house. It's so refreshing to see all of the craftsmanship that goes both into the original structures as well as the actual renovation. Some other decorating ideas include furniture buying and color choices. If you need a step by step guide for your next project check out Period Living.
